Motivation:
I would like to thank you Mr. Mmusi, for granting us with this wonderful opportunity. May God richly bless you. I am a first year student at the University of South Africa (UNISA), doing a Diploma in Law. I do not have a laptop and this makes it extremely difficult for me to study, write assignments and to even write examinations (of which are non-vanue-based for this semester due to this covid19 pandemic). 1. I am using a cellphone which quickly gets full in terms of its memory, that I find myself having to delete and re-download certain study material everytime I have to study, write assignments or examinations and this as well costs me a lot because sometimes I don't even have data to re-download the study material I have deleted due to my phone memory. 1.1 STUDYING AND WRITING ASSIGNMENTS Writing assignments and studying is extremely difficult for me. I first have to take a pen and a paper to write everything down on a book then afterwards, type and send the whole thing/assignment on WhatsApp (to any available friend with a laptop so they can help me by retyping it accordingly, convert it to the PDF or any other required format) so they could send it back to me again on WhatsApp. It's then that I can be able to submit it online. If there is no available person to assist me by then, I will have to wait until some becomes available and this is time consuming as well. Some modules are strictly offered online and have got no study material on a hard copy and this means I need to be ready to type efficiently, download what needs to be downloaded and submit in time, on a phone. It is difficult Mr. Maimane. 1.2 EXAMINATIONS The UNISA examinations are strictly online this semester. During examinations, I have to login to the site where the examination question paper will be available, download the paper then logout so that I can be able to go through the paper and answer accordingly. This is a difficult task for me because I am doing all that on a phone, the very same phone that has my study materials which I sometimes need to refer on. Referring to those study material on my phone means I have to exit that internet page so that I can go to the files on my phone and when I get back to that internet page, I have start everything from the scratch again, which is time and data consuming. All these things would have been quite easy for me to do if I had a laptop. 2. I am a 3rd of 5 children. My father is 69 years, working in a game reserve and his salary is far from being enough to support my whole family with all its needs. So since I'm in a distance learning, I try to get some piece jobs here and there to help to help and meet my father half-way through, by doing buying somethings for myself and the family as well but it's still not enough to cover everything I need. This is why I need you Mr. Maimane & Partners to assist me with this laptop, I honestly need it and your help will highly be appreciated. I thank you, E O Mooketsi
