How to Give a Gadget

Donating a gadget is easy. Just follow the simple steps listed below and your gadget will be on its way to a recipient of your choice. If you do not want to pick a recipient, you can let WantedTech choose for you.

Prepare your gadget

Start by finding and preparing your gadget for delivery. We would recommend clearing the gadget of all your personal data. Please ensure all the relevant accessories are ready to be sent with the gadget. Eg, charging cables. Please ensure that you know your PIN to unlock the gadget.

Upload a gadget

Follow the steps to successfully upload a gadget to the website. You will need to take a pic of the gadget, specify your gadget type and add a description. If you do not want to pick a recipient, specify that you want WantedTech to choose one for you.

Pick a recipient

Search through our potential recipients, read their motivation. You can select by occupation, how they will use the gadget, by geographical location, or who has waited the longest. The choice is yours!

Deliver the gadget

Once the recipient has accepted your kind offer, you will need to arrange delivery. You can can choose any courier or delivery method. Click the link to find out more about couriers and delivery options.

How to Get a Gadget

Getting a gadget is a really simple process. All you need to do is create your WantedTech account and fill in all your relevant information and motivational story. Select a gadget and a back up. You will be notified by sms when a donor has offered you their gadget

Create your account

Before you can request a gadget, you will need to create your WantedTech account. You need to be 16 years old to register. If you are younger, please ask an adult. Getting varified increases your chance of receiving a gadget - make sure enter all the relevant information – including your correct identity number & id photo.

Pick a gadget and add a motivation

Select the gadget you would like to receive. Select a back up gadget. A second option increases your chances of receiving a gadget. Motivate what you intend to do with the gadgety after receiving it – be sure to include how it will positively impact your life.

Wait for a gadget

All there is to do now is wait for a donor to offer you a gadget. You will be notified by sms when your gadget is on its way. Once you receive the gadget, let us know. It would be great if you took a moment to write a note of thanks to your donor, to show your appreciation.
