Inkwenkwezi Youth Development is a B-BBEE level1 rural youth-led nongovernmental, not-for-profit company that uses the power of sport to educate, inspire and mobilize at-risk youth in Ngqushwa local municipality, Peddie – Eastern Cape. The organization was formed by unemployed graduates in 2015 with the strategic intent to develop, empower and mainstream young people so that a dream of a crime free society, wherein the youth is safe, employable, academically achieving, healthy and socially connected is realized.
We use our sport programme as a vehicle to teach life skills. To promote healthy living among
youth, and academic excellence. Our Foundation then assists young people in forging their
future by helping them access nutritional support, training and employment opportunities. We
provide promising students with bursary assistance and ongoing support. To combat crime through integrated, holistic youth development through sport.
Rationale
On 4 July 2020, the world will be celebrating International Cooperatives Day, whose theme was chosen to support Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 13 on Climate Action. This event will focus on the contribution of cooperatives to combating climate change, one of the most severe challenges facing our planet during the 21st century. South Africa, like many countries in the would not be able to celebrate this in a normal way due to devastating impact of COVID-19 Corona virus on our shores.
However, Inkwenkwezi Youth Development undertakes to ensure that - it runs virtual cooperatives competition on the day. The businesses of young people will pitch business ideas in line with the theme and get to win a laptops and printers. These youths will take videos of themselves between 1 - 3 minutes, and post them on our social media pages.
COVID-19 has had and continue to negatibvely impact SMMEs in the broader scheme of things.
Thus, you are kindly requested to donate laptops and printers - contribute towards the success of this competition.
